Body art has been practiced for centuries, possibly millennia, and has taken many forms over the years. Bodypainting is the art of using hypoallergenic, water- or alcohol-based paint upon a living canvas to create either a character, illusion, or design.

This medium can use many different application styles, from brush to sponge to airbrush. I currently work with all three application techniques, but most often I use a brush and sponge.

When painting upon the human body, the artist must take into account not only the design they are creating but how it fits upon the three-dimensional canvas. The model’s body shape and natural lines must also be considered - all bodies make good canvases, and the art should complement the model’s form, no matter their size or shape.
