Henna or mehndi art is a body art form that has been used for centuries to decorate the hands, arms, feet, and legs of women (and men!) in many different parts of the world. It is often part of wedding ceremonies in Indian, Middle Eastern, and African cultures, as well as being used for other celebrations and as decoration and enhancement as a part of daily life.

Henna paste comes from the plant Lawsonia inermis and is created by grinding the leaves into an extremely fine powder, which is then mixed with essential oils and other natural ingredients (water, lemon juice, sometimes coffee, and sugar) as per the artist’s preference.
